Criteria For Promotion

CLASSES I TO VIII

1. Examination system is divided into 2 terms.
2. Term 1 : Total Weightage: 100 marks
  • i. Unit Test 1 : Weightage: 10 marks
  • ii. Half Yearly Examination : Weightage: 80 marks
  • iii. Subject Enrichment Activity : Weightage: 05 marks
  • iv. Notebook Correction : Weightage: 05 marks
3. Term 2 : Total Weightage: 100 marks
  • i. Unit Test 2 : Weightage: 10 marks
  • ii. Annual Examination : Weightage: 80 marks
  • iii. Subject Enrichment Activity : Weightage: 05 marks
  • iv. Notebook Correction : Weightage: 05 marks
4. Overall Result & Criteria for Promotion in Classes I to VIII:
  • Subject wise total score of term 1 & term 2 is calculated out of 100.
  • A student has to score minimum 33% marks in each subject to be declared passed and promoted to next higher class.
5. Important Notes:
  • i. Classes I & V : Approximately 10% syllabus of Unit Test 1 is carried forward to Half Yearly Examination and similarly another 10% syllabus of Unit Test 2 is carried forward to Annual Examination.
  • ii. Class VI : For Term 1 complete syllabus of Unit Test 1 is carried forward to Half Yearly Examination. For Term 2 complete syllabus of Unit Test 2 and 10% syllabus of Term 1 is carried forward to Annual Examination.
  • iii. Class VII : For Term 1 complete syllabus of Unit Test 1 is carried forward to Half Yearly Examination. For Term 2 complete syllabus of Unit Test 2 and 20% syllabus of Term 1 is carried forward to Annual Examination.
  • iv. Class VIII : For Term 1 complete syllabus of Unit Test 1 is carried forward to Half Yearly Examination. For Term 2 complete syllabus of Unit Test 2 and 30% syllabus of Term 1 is carried forward to Annual Examination.
CLASS IX :

1. For Term 1 complete syllabus of Unit Test 1 is carried forward to Half Yearly Examination.
For Term 2 complete syllabus of Unit Test 2 and full syllabus of Term 1 is carried forward to Annual Examination to be conducted in the first week February of the session.

2. Calculation of Weightage: Subject wise average of the best two scores out of Unit Test 1, Half Yearly Exam & Unit Test 2 are named as Periodic Assessment (PA) and weightage is taken as under:

  • i. PA (Average of the best 2): Weightage 10 marks
  • ii. Note Book (NB) Correction: Weightage 05 marks
  • iii. Subject Enrichment Activity (SEA): Weightage 05 marks
  • iv. Annual Examinations: Weightage 80 marks

3. Overall Result & Criteria for Promotion in Classes IX:

  • i. Subject wise total score is calculated out of 100.
  • ii. A student has to score minimum 33% marks in each subject with minimum overall score of 40% to be declared as passed and is then promoted to next higher class.

4. Supplementary Examination:

  • i. Student is eligible for supplementary exam if he/she fails in only one subject in class IX with maximum 5 marks.
  • ii. Such students must score at least 33% marks to pass the Supplementary Exam in one attempt only.

CLASS X :

1. Complete Syllabus of Unit Test 1 is carried forward to Half Yearly Examination.
Pre-Board & Mock Examinations are conducted at the school level with complete syllabus.
Annual Examination namely All India Secondary School Examination (AISSE) is conducted & evaluated by CBSE.

2. Calculation of Weightage: Subject wise average of the best two scores out of Unit Test 1, Half Yearly Exam & Pre Board are named as Periodic Assessment (PA) and weightage is taken as under:

  • i. PA (Average of the best 2): Weightage 10 marks
  • ii. Note Book (NB) Correction: Weightage 05 marks
  • iii. Subject Enrichment Activity (SEA): Weightage 05 marks
  • iv. Annual Examinations: Weightage 80 marks

3. Overall Result & Criteria for Promotion in Class X:

  • i. Subject wise 20 marks comprising of PA, NB & SEA are sent to CBSE as internal grades.
  • ii. Board conducted examination of each subject for 80 marks.
  • iii. A student has to score minimum 33% marks separately in Internal Grades and external board examination in each subject to be declared as passed and is then promoted to next higher class.

CLASS XI :

Promotion to class XII is based on performance in tests and exams held throughout the year in class XI, as per the prescribed schedule. Scheme of examination in class XI is as under:

1. Complete Syllabus of Unit Test 1 is carried forward to Half Yearly Examination.
Complete Syllabus Annual Examination is conducted in first week of February of the session.

2. Calculation of Weightage: Subject wise weightage calculation for Theory
Examinations is as under:

  • i. Unit Tests: Weightage 20%
  • ii. Half Yearly Examination: Weightage 30%
  • iii. Annual Examination: Weightage 50%

3. Overall Result & Criteria for Promotion in Class XI:

  • i. Student must obtain minimum 33% marks in each subject, in the overall result to be declared as PASSED.
  • ii. In subjects of practical exam, student must pass separately in both theory and practical papers, with minimum 33% marks in each.
  • iii. Student failing in more than one subject in class XI will be declared FAIL.

4. Supplementary Examination:

  • i. Student is eligible for supplementary exam if he/she fails in only one subject in class XI with maximum 5 marks.
  • ii. Students must score at least 33% marks to pass the Supplementary Exam in one attempt only.

CLASS XII:

1. Complete Syllabus of Unit Test 1 is carried forward to Half Yearly Examination. Pre-Board & Mock Examinations are conducted at the school level with complete syllabus.

2. Annual Examination (Theory & Practical) namely All India Senior Secondary
Certificate Examination (AISSCE) is conducted & evaluated by CBSE.
